Bonjour! Happy Thursday.
Today we are officially beginning the suit conversation. SUITS!!!!!!!!!!
As I am now thirty years old, it’s the season of life where all my friends and cousins are getting married! Wedding season! Three weddings last year, four this year, everyone finding love and making it official under state government. In this house, we love love and finding a person to make living life easier with. We also love parties, and an excuse to get dressed up.
This October two of dearest friends are getting married in the Midwest. The bride has seen the jumpsuit I’ve worn to the last five weddings at two of those weddings, so, time to find a new outfit…
What a perfect excuse to invest in a suit!
Here’s the thing - suits are already gender neutral. I am in no way breaking ground, I am, in fact, very late.
But PERSONALLY, I have never owned a cool suit, a matching jacket and trousers, stylish and formal. For formal events, I’ve always worn some form of skirt, the aforementioned jumpsuit, or been underdressed. It is time, folks. And as I’m incapable of not posting this online, I am bringing you on my journey to find my first suit.
I have a lot of research to do. What categorizes a suit to be men’s or women’s outside of the sizing? Whilst in a suit, do I want the tailoring or the accessories to lean more masculine or feminine? I need to figure out my budget and find a tailor. And though I love research, I love working with my hands more, so to begin the creative process of building the perfect first suit fit, this week I made an inspo collage from three fashion magazines I bought recently: L’OFFICIEL USA, Marie Claire, and Esquire.
The result:
Closer looks:
The orange suit is Bottega Veneta. This styling of having a turtleneck underneath is apparently very 2019, but Elisabetta Dessy rocks it with in this L’Officiel spread about tailored classics. Especially with the matching socks and sneakers. This whole fit would be perfect for a northern fall wedding. Sneakers to a wedding? Only if they are sparkling clean is my vote.
The boots on the watch figure are Louboutins and if I could, I would slay the fucking house down in them. High on my list of future investments.
The chartreuse disco cowboy suit is Gucci. Necklace is Harry Winston. The anxious hand next to the Samba man, I found in Esquire, and am in love with the proportions and rings.
I love the subtle stripes in the pair of pants with the abs. They are Bruno Cucinelli (all these Italianos! Grazie!). But what color?? Imagine a brownish mauve. Or a pale yellow…
Mostly what I’m getting from this set is movement. I’m looking for something I can dance and sit expressively in.
I’m not going to say much else, tell me what you like, what you think.
OKAY SWEETS, MY LOVE OF HIGH FASHION AND ART HAS BEEN REIGNITED.
Thanks :) Talk next week <3
